"Lock" In Your Transitions - Part Three

"Lock In" Your Transitions is a focus on the space between steps, that place Carolena describes as settling. In this second class of the series, Lenka shares some of her favorite slow combinations and drills explaining her concept of "locking" in place between steps to ensure your transitions are clear to your fellow dancers. Some of the steps covered in this class include: Reverse Figure 8 (Taxeem), Medusa, Sahra Turn and Rainbow. Be sure you are familiar with these steps before working on the transitions. The benefits include improved technique of each step, cohesive look of the formation, followers not stressed out (paying more attention to audience, enjoying the dance, ...) and improved self-confidence. Also transitions are where you show your individuality and musicality. We recommend taking Part One in this series before moving on to this class.
